September 27th Meeting

The Association meeting last week was lightly attended but was helpful to us board members as an introduction to the types of information our neighbors are looking for. The high level agenda of the discussion covered these areas:
  • Neighborhood Update
  • Turnover Information
  • Financial Update
  • Neighborhood Projects
  • Ordinance Discussion
  • Open Forum
There was a fair amount of feedback on the finances as the association has a growing accounts receivable balance. The feedback we got was that payments of many of the members seems to be going to the wrong place. Please validate your payments are going to the right place.

Other feedback resulting in to-do's for the board are sending out bi-annual invoices to everyone and scheduling board meetings every three months to grow community involvement.

The other take-away was Brenda Blank offered to collect email information from all the homeowners to allow for easier communication to everyone, so please help her out if you see her.

Since I was unable to attend the meeting, I am wondering if you could post more detail on the discussions. Most community meeting notes are specific to the points brought up by members. I think others would be curious to the discussions in more detail.

Good feedback, we'll try to provide more detailed additional topics/information. One of the more interesting topics brought up was that of the covenants and how that was going to be approached.

The conversation was that homeowners need to notify the association board about perceived problems for action to be taken. The board members are not walking the neighborhood with a clipboard.

If something is bothering you contact us and we can work to handle the situation. We are working with a lawyer on the best approach for notices, fines and follow-though as this is a new process for the board members.

The other big topic was association fees and what we were planning to use the surplus for. The notice sent to all homeowners was part of the follow-through requested on the boards part. We then talked about the surplus due to being self-managed and how it is difficult to raise fees so the intent was not to lower them now, to have to raise them later to accommodate inflation. We will spend money for community driven project such as mailbox staining, spring cleanup dumpsters, etc.
